Album covers and infinite beauty
by javier on 26/02/2007Ana (marylink) just suggested The complete Graphic Album by Factory Records, a book containing all the graphic, architectonic and decorative motives used on their records during their history (+10 years).
Defenitely interesting, but I’ll answer with something even better: Gracias por la Música – Thank you for the Music, another book with more than 700 album covers, but this time made by regular people for their homemade copies:
Graphic design for the self. Very interesting concept.
What’s even more interesting about this last book is that it’s published by the guys at Belleza Infinita (Infinite Beauty), a non-profit group whose goals are the production and promotion of projects intended to provoke relection on the concepts of beauty and creationn in its widest sense.
Besides hosting events they have published a few books which look extremely interesting: from Música y Ratas which reports the biological reactions that rats had under the influence of different types of music to Zona Verde, a book on the geometric patterns the writer sees everyday on his daily walk in Bilbao.
Belleza Infinita seems like a very interesting group. I wonder if they consider cyberspace as a source for quotidian beauty.
